Daniel King has 28 years of experience representing indigent people accused of crimes in Colorado.  Known as a fierce litigator dedicated to his clients, Daniel has tried dozens of trials in jurisdictions all over the state including more than twenty first degree murder cases and three death penalty cases.

Daniel King received his bachelor’s degree from Boston College in 1987, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver in 1995.  After being admitted to the bar in 1995, Daniel was immediately hired by the Colorado Public Defender.  He worked as a Deputy Public Defender and Senior Attorney in several regional trial offices for more than 10 years including Denver, Greeley, and Arapahoe Counties.  

In 2006 when he was appointed by the State Public Defender to the position of Chief Trial Deputy, the position he held until retiring from the public defender system in May of 2023.  As Chief Trial Deputy for the Colorado Public Defender, Daniel’s responsibilities primarily involved the representation of indigent persons charged with capital crimes, but also with training, teaching, and with the staffing, supervision and often personal involvement in homicide cases and other complex litigation statewide.
